New New Friday: Sunbirds

Multi-national, psychedel-ish band worth a listen. They're so new, I couldn't find a video of them. You'll have to check out their MySpace or take advantage of the free download of "Sunshine" off their upcoming EP release available on their website. Give it a spin, and enjoy the weekend.

Whore Island

Reportedly (and thankfully) denied by Giants/Jets officials, adultery-based dating site AshleyMadison.com submitted a 5 year, $25M bid for the naming rights to the new Meadowlands, NJ stadium.
And while that offer is far below the $20 million per year the teams are believed to be seeking for a naming-rights deal, TMZ reported that the site's founder, Noel Biderman, sent a letter to the CEO of New Meadowlands Stadium that said "We would be pleased to match any such superior offerWhat's amazing is that such a site has the capital to spend on advertising. And since linking to their site would increase their revenue, none will be provided here.

Call me a Cock Sucker, I Dare you.
Ever wonder what is coming out of a manager's mouth when they are talking to an umpire? Well this deleted scene featuring Wally Bachman from the documentary "Playing for Peanuts", a film about minor league baseball will give you a little insight. If you have children in the room, now would be a good time to put the ol' ear muffs on.
The documentary chronicled the first and only season of the South Georgia Peanuts, of the short-lived South Coast League. Which is why you can see the umpire thinking, "I don't need this shit, my last three paychecks all bounced."
Let's go have a beer, Doc.

Are you ready?
The World Cup starts this week. Even if you don't give a tea and crumpet about "the beautiful game", tune in on Saturday at 2:30 ET to watch your apple-pie-eatin' boys either implode or pull off a stunning upset against England, ultimately triggering events that will lead to America's third war (and counting!) possibly ruining relations with our greatest world ally and potentially ripping to shreds what remains of the fabric of our modern, civilized (?) Western world.

Broken Bells Diptych
You already know how I like my Sundays. Danger Mouse + Shins frontman James Mercer = A decent collaboration. The album has been out since March, but Paste is offering a session download free on their site for those of you still on the fence.
